CaravelAccessBot
CaravelAccessBot is the robot of Caravel Access. It visits a few public pages of an online store to test their accessibility. If you found it in your logs, this page explains what it did.
How it identifies itself
Every request sends this User-Agent:
CaravelAccessBot/0.1 (+https://caravelsuite.com/access/bot)
What it does
- It reads up to 6 public pages of a store by default: the home page, a category, a product and the cart. In a paid diagnosis it reads up to 25, at desktop and mobile sizes, and also checks the keyboard.
- It waits at least 5 seconds between pages of the same site, or longer if your robots.txt asks for it with Crawl-delay.
- It loads each page as a browser does, with the files the page uses, and runs automated accessibility tests on it.
- It keeps the test result and screenshots of the pages for the report.
What it never does
- It never submits forms, signs in, adds products to the cart or buys.
- It never follows links to other sites.
- It never reads pages that your robots.txt does not allow it to read.
- It never changes anything on your site.
robots.txt
It follows the group for CaravelAccessBot in your robots.txt, or the group for all robots (*) if there is none. To exclude your whole site:
